Analysis

E-Psychiatry is Turkey’s largest psychiatry web portal, which started its publishing life in 2000, closely following the developments in the field of mental health, neurology, brain, science, medicine, health and health technologies, especially psychiatry and psychology in Turkey and in the world; providing up-to-date, unbiased, fast and accurate information to its readers.

E-Psychiatry is also located within NPISTANBUL Brain Hospital and Üsküdar University, which is a Science Partner.

At the beginning of the project, the following common views and objectives were drawn from the interviews we held with the brand side, and strategic roadmaps were created separately for each item.

  • Identification and elimination of technical critical issues,
  • Detection and elimination of On-Site side problems,
  • Elimination of duplicate, thin page and cannibilisation problems on the content side,
  • Then, it was decided to examine the existing backlink profile and to start outreach processes for new backlink gains,
  • Not to be negatively affected by powerful updates such as E.A.T. (Medic), Core, M.F.I. carried out by Google and to gain from updates
  • Improvements in user experience so that the reader who visits the website can read the content in a healthy way.

Process

In order to quickly and clearly see the big picture, the decision was made to determine whether the focus should be on the on-site or off-site aspects across the entire site. DeepCrawl and Ahrefs tools were preferred and utilized at this stage.

Upon reviewing the outputs from both analysis tools, it was observed that about 90% of the fundamental and critical issues were technical, content-related, and on-site. Insights obtained through the analysis tools were used to create a project-specific roadmap. Plans were formulated in Wrike using Gantt charts, and more than 45 tasks were prioritized and communicated to the development and content teams.

Briefly touching on the SEO elements addressed during the analysis:

  • After the implementation process of AMP pages, an error was discovered where the pages indicated by canonical were independent and different from the desktop version. Steps were taken to rectify this issue.
  • When comparing the desktop and mobile versions of the site, it was observed that menu, category, etc., elements were not present on mobile. Quick actions were taken to avoid negative impacts from Mobile First Indexing and prevent a negative user experience.
  • Regarding crawl budget, measures were taken to redirect URLs returning 3X, 4X, 5X response status codes to the most relevant categories and pages, removal of URLs with noindex and canonical tag parameters from the sitemap, and redirection or setting a 410 status code for around 7,000 tag pages based on traffic and click values.
  • In terms of fundamental SEO criteria, duplicate Konu Başlığı and description tags were optimized based on CTR. Unnecessary IDs in URL structures were removed, correct pagination was implemented on list pages, nofollow attributes were applied to content obtained from different sites outside trusted sources, and an internal link-building strategy between pages on the site was developed.
  • As e-psikiyatri.com is a health portal that frequently relies on local and global sources, efforts were made to minimize the risk by making content as unique as possible. In addition to existing categories, 10 new categories were added, and strategies for 100% unique, 10X, and evergreen content were developed.
  • For a cluster of pages that created duplicate and thin content without directly providing value to end-users, plans were created for merging some pages, rewriting others based on user needs, or redirecting them to directly/indirectly related pages.

These actions aimed to enhance the site’s overall performance and user experience while addressing both technical and content-related issues.

Conclusion

Thanks to the Roadmap created on a project-specific periodic and year-specific basis;

Organic traffic increased by 935.24% in organic traffic.
815.14% increase in the number of new users.
350% increase in the number of Top 10 keywords.
